Campaign groups like The Homeless Period are raising awareness for homeless women and girls who cannot afford sanitary products.
Tampons and sanitary pads are not made freely available in night shelters in the same way condoms are. A spokesperson from The Homeless Period told the Metro: "Period poverty remains one of the most shocking issues that’s rarely spoken about."
They are urging more people to donate sanitary products to the Trussell Trust foodbanks and to campaign for more awareness.
