President Trump has announced his first budget plan for the United States, involving deep cuts to government welfare programs.
The cutbacks will result in the Department of Housing and Urban Development losing billions of dollars in funding.
Diane Yentel of the National Low Income Housing Coalition warned the cuts could make more people become homeless.
Speaking to the Guardian, she commented: "President Reagan dramatically reduced funding in the early 1980s. Reagan’s deep spending cuts ushered in a new age of homelessness."
The cut-heavy budget, which surprised many in Washington, also announced an increase in military spending.
