Obituary: Pat McCann

May 19th 2009

Patrick Donnelly (sometimes called Pat McCann) sadly passed away on 13th December of a massive heart attack while on a bus. He was 68 years old. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Royal Free Hospital. Tim Nicholls, then director of the Simon Community, told The Pavement: "He will have been known to many on the streets, especially for the help that he gave to the Simon Community with its early morning tea runs. Furthermore, he was a keen supporter and key help for the hospitality that the Simon Community provided from its community houses. His gentle manner and warm infectious smile will in particular be missed by the many who knew him. He had been a resident with the Community for well over 10 years." His funeral was held on Friday, 11th January, at Islington Crematorium.
