St Paul‘s gets recognition for 35 years‘ service

St Paul’s Hostel, in Tallow Hill, has been awarded a lottery grant of £200,000 in recognition of their work with the city’s homeless people over the last 35 years. The money will be put towards their “life skills project”. Deputy manager Sharon Antwerper said: “The aim of the project is to help homeless people by giving them skills, allowing them to meet people and gain some stability.” With one trainee already having found himself a job at a top restaurant in the city, the project really does work. The hostel will use the funding to run a series of activities and day trips developing a whole range of life skills run by their trusted volunteers.
