Mungo's launches women's campaign

July 04 2012

Homeless charity St Mungo’s has launched a new campaign to stop women becoming homeless and to help those who already are, after its 2012 survey found one in 10 rough sleepers contacted are women, many with a complex mix of needs.

The campaign, entitled Rebuilding Shattered Lives, is set to continue for 18 months, with the ultimate goal of creating by 2014 "a national showcase of best practice for what works for women and... a comprehensive policy report that will drive lasting change for women in need."

As well as gathering ideas and experiences from St Mungo’s female clients, the campaign is bringing in experts from charity and voluntary organisations who will talk to practitioners and individuals on nine key themes: housing and homelessness (with Jacqui McCluskey, Homeless Link Director of Policy and Communications, as lead contributing expert), domestic abuse, families and children, childhood trauma, employment and skills, prostitution, mental health and wellbeing, substance use, and women involved in the criminal justice system.
