Anne Naysmith, who lived in Chiswick for 26 years in her battered car, died last month after being hit by a lorry.

A popular local figure in the west London neighbourhood, 77-year-old Naysmith spent her final years living on the edge of a car park at Stamford Brook Underground station after her car was towed away by the council.

According to the Express, she grew a garden in the green patch, although that then too was destroyed during Transport for London work.

She became homeless after being evicted from her rented flat aged 39 and refused all offers of housing on a point of principle.
