CLG\'s strategy will affect you

May 22 2009
The government wants your input to shape its new rough sleeper strategy The Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG) is in the process of elaborating a new strategy to tackle rough sleeping, with the aid of homeless care associations. The department announced it was working on a new strategy last April, and has put out a discussion paper named 'Rough Sleepers Ten Years On' for associations and members of the public to read and respond to. The CLG is bringing in associations and individuals to write a document outlining the new strategy to tackle the issue. The department wants to include input from rough sleepers to shape the new strategy more closely to the needs of people, it said. The new discussion was announced together with housing minister Ian Wright's plan to reduce rough sleeping to "as close to zero as possible" and the government's commitment to spend £160 million to refurbish hostels and improve their services by 2011.
